About Able Computer Support

Able Computer Support provides technical services, products, support and help for domestic or business clients with computers, laptops or networks. Support includes: Repairs, Troubleshooting, Maintenance, New PCs/laptops/parts, I.T. help, Networks, Setups, etc. For a complete list of services, see Services.

Able Computer Support was founded in Darwin, Northern Territory in early 2006 by proprietor Keith Francis. As a qualified/experienced Computer Trainer and a Charles Darwin University Information Technology Graduate, Keith found a local demand for his skills, experience and qualifications in computer support, troubleshooting and training. Keith has been a Darwin resident for over 20 years, which makes him well aware of 'local' issues affecting computers and laptops such as: power problems causing system damage (especially in the 'wet season'), climatic change (humidity levels, etc), parts availability, service/ordering timeframes, warranty issues, etc. Qualifications: Client Support, Advanced Hardware, Network Engineering, Workplace Training & Assessment. Insurance: Public Liability, Equipment coverage. Data coverage is negotiable.

Mission Statement

Able Computer Support provides computer related support, repairs, maintenance, training and solutions to Darwin's domestic and small business community. It endeavors to provide an efficient service with the primary aims of a fast turn around and cost-effective solutions for it's clients. Where repairs, maintenance and virus/spyware resolutions are provided, we aim to have the client's computer ready for delivery or collection on the following day. When ordering computers, laptops, parts or devices, we aim to provide a fast delivery at a competitive price with warranty/support issues in mind. For Darwin and suburb areas, a pick-up and delivery service and on-site service is offered as well as service provided from the workshop. Email and telephone support is offered to clients in or out of the Darwin area.

Price Structure

Able Computer Support strives to provide a very competitive pricing structure. We understand that new computers and laptops are very inexpensive to purchase now compared to previous times, therefore you don't want to be spending a fortune on repairs like we did in the past. Luckily parts and components are much less expensive now too, which make repairs an economically viable option. When it comes to security issues like viruses and spyware, a new computer won't fix your downfalls in security anyway. A security check-up and optimisation as part of the Able Computer Support complete service is a must to help keep your system trouble free whether it is old or new. Service is provided from $33 (eg: Half hour rate, callout fee). Work is charged at $66 per hour, however some services are provided at set prices: Virus & Spyware removal = $77, Operating system (Windows) Installation or repair = $66, File recovery & backup = $66 This saves the client money if extra processes need to be deployed or time extends past the hourly rate. Data Disclaimer

Able Computer Support and its representative/s hold no responsibility for data loss and/or damage. It is the clients’s responsibility to back up their own data regularly in case of equipment failure, system problems or the requirement for the system to be restored to its original factory state to resolve problems.

Current insurance covers equipment, public liability, etc but NOT data. If insurance is required to cover data, this must be pre organised before services are supplied and factored into the service pricing.

Trading Terms Policies

- After 7 days all sales are final and no returns for credit will be issued.

- Goods returned for credit must be unopened and in new condition.

- Where applicable goods returned for credit will be tested before credit is given.

- All courier charges and any insurance costs are borne by the purchaser.

- Return of non-defective goods will attract $20 (ex gst) or a 15% restocking fee whichever is higher.

- Warranty doesn’t cover damage to other equipment used in conjunction with goods purchased.

- ACS reserves the right to charge a $33 (incl GST) fee for each returned cheque.

- Goods purchased remain the property of ACS until fully paid for.

Warranty Policies

- A copy of the original invoice must be produced upon returning goods. Any item not returned with the correct invoice will not be accepted.

- Warranty is void if labels are removed from products or tampered with.

- When returning items, goods must be in original or suitable packaging with reasonable protection and marked …. Attn: Warranty Department

- Items tested and found without a fault will incur a minimum $33 (inc GST) fee.

- ACS does not accept any liability for any data loss caused by the testing, failure, replacement or repair of any component.

- ACS reserves the right to replace all faulty hardware with equivalent hardware. If the hardware is part of a kit, only the faulty component will be replaced – not the full kit.

- Accessories that could possibly attribute to the fault of the item should also be provided.

- Items purchased on clearance sales that are subject to reduced warranty conditions, must accompany a copy of the relevant invoice, no items will be processed without it.

- ACS is not responsible for warranty on any software program loaded.

- ACS cannot be held responsible for delays caused by interstate suppliers, where ACS Darwin or its Darwin Supplier is not carrying out warranty repairs.

Product Identification Methods

The following are the methods of identifying products for warranty reasons.

When supplied in a System - Motherboards, CPU’s, HDD, RAM, Sound Cards, Video Cards, Cases, Modems, Optical Drives, Monitors, Speakers, Add On Cards, Servers and Systems.

- Are all marked before dispatch with an identification sticker system. If the sticker has been tampered with or removed, warranty cannot be honored.

When sold as components – Mainboards, CPUs, HDD, RAM, Video Cards, Monitors, Speakers, Keyboards, Add on Cards, Backup Products, Printers, Scanners, UPS and cases.

- Serial numbers are recorded and invoice MUST be produced at the time of return for proof of purchase date.

ACS & UEE (United Electrical Engineering) Warranties

Warranty applies only to Electrical, Mechanical & Electronic Breakdown that causes sudden and unforeseen damage to the machine. Computer owners are responsible for software and/or data fault, consumables, incompatibility, surging, user error and wear and tear. Warranty is void if labels on components are torn or removed.

Please ensure the computer system cover under warranty is plugged into an approved Surge Protection unit and not directly into a mains power supply. If this is not complied, the warranty will void.

ACS offers optional UEE onsite warranties. Please ask for the UEE Customer Care Program.
